Hudson had his first Jeep trip, first Memorial Day, outgrew his first pair of shoes, and lifted his chest and head for the first time! We thought it was important to take Hudson to the cemetery to visit his great grandparent’s gravesites. As we were getting ready to go we put Hudson’s shoes on. SURPRISE, his heel would not fit into his shoe. It seemed like his foot had just grown just enough overnight to outgrow his first pair of shoes. This brought me to tears, so bitter sweet to see him grow. His face is fuller, and he is packing some chunk on his thighs and tummy now. There was a time during Hudson’s adoption that we knew about Hudson and did not tell any of our family. We did not want to cause anyone anxiety, worry, or get their hopes up just to be disappointed again. It was during this time that I knelt down and said a prayer. A prayer that family who had passed on would be there with us. To give us strength at the hospital, to help us know what to say to Hudson’s birth mother, and to ease our fears as we waited for her to sign the adoption papers. Without a doubt their presence was felt. That is why we thought it was so important to take Hudson to the cemetery at just a month old. Just to take some time in a peaceful place to say Thank You. Hudson was meant to be a part of this family and we are grateful to be a part of his life every day. Even at 4 am when Hudson has been awake since 1:30 am ;)
The circle of life is so profound. I'm sure as you were praying, Hudson was with your family in Heaven waiting to be born so he could be in your arms.
