7 Weeks Old Today!

Hudson is seven weeks today! Wasn't it just last week that we brought him home from the hospital? It's so unreal how fast time has gone by. Hudson is growing into his own little personality. It's so fun to watch! He is awake more and showing an interest in toys and books. He enjoys laying on the floor with us, looking around and make his little cooing noises while we hold up different objects. SO CUTE! Hudson will try to move his tongue when I make faces at him. And today I think he may have been trying to sign milk. He had his arm straight out to his side, looking at me very intently as I signed milk. Then he opened and closed his fist four times. LOVE IT! He is enjoying summer and loves watching the leaves blow in the sun. Corey had his first Father's Day! At 5 AM the Monday morning after Father's Day Corey was feeding Hudson and proudly declared that it was still Father's Day. It's great to watch Corey as a Father. He is amazing with Hudson. So calm and gentle. It makes me giggle to see Corey so big (compared to Hudson) handling Hudson so tenderly. I asked Hudson today if he would still be my little baby when he was big like his Daddy, I'm pretty sure he said yes!

A Few First’s

Hudson had his first Jeep trip, first Memorial Day, outgrew his first pair of shoes, and lifted his chest and head for the first time! We thought it was important to take Hudson to the cemetery to visit his great grandparent’s gravesites. As we were getting ready to go we put Hudson’s shoes on. SURPRISE, his heel would not fit into his shoe. It seemed like his foot had just grown just enough overnight to outgrow his first pair of shoes. This brought me to tears, so bitter sweet to see him grow. His face is fuller, and he is packing some chunk on his thighs and tummy now. There was a time during Hudson’s adoption that we knew about Hudson and did not tell any of our family. We did not want to cause anyone anxiety, worry, or get their hopes up just to be disappointed again. It was during this time that I knelt down and said a prayer. A prayer that family who had passed on would be there with us. To give us strength at the hospital, to help us know what to say to Hudson’s birth mother, and to ease our fears as we waited for her to sign the adoption papers. Without a doubt their presence was felt. That is why we thought it was so important to take Hudson to the cemetery at just a month old. Just to take some time in a peaceful place to say Thank You. Hudson was meant to be a part of this family and we are grateful to be a part of his life every day. Even at 4 am when Hudson has been awake since 1:30 am ;)

2 Weeks Old!

It's hard to believe that two weeks have already gone by since Hudson has been home. And yet, it's hard to imagine what our home was like without him in it. He brings us so much happiness. We watch everything he does. And laugh at every funny noise he makes. Hudson has more alert times during the day now, he is so much fun! Hudson had his first "big boy bath". He cried at first, but calmed down when we gave him his binky. And shortly after his bath started he was asleep in the tub. Lincoln and Liberty have now taken protective watch over Hudson. Lincoln won’t leave his side when we put Hudson down on the floor. And Liberty cries at the bedroom door when Hudson starts wiggling around in his bed. Hudson now weighs 6lbs 8oz, which is a 6 oz. weight gain since birth, and he is 1 inch longer! He is absolutely amazing!

A Great First Week

Hudson has been adjusting well to his new home. He is so calm, and sweet. We are amazed at what a good baby he is. He had his first pediatricians visit this week. In the hospital he wasn't eating very well so he had to see his pediatrician two days after discharge. He is eating LOTS now, and gained weight! It's amazing how much a small little boy can change our lives. Our house has never been so messy. We have never been so sleep deprived. And it is fantastic! Hudson loves getting his hair washed, listening to music, and watching the kitties (when they dare get close to him). The cats are so big compared to him, we joke that he must wonder why we have lions for pets. He is most awake at night. However, he enjoys watching the sun rise with his dad while his mom catches up on sleep. It's so fun getting to know him. We have been blessed!
